Castle Ardvreck

Castle Ardvreck – A 16th Century Castle Ruin

Ardvreck Castle is a ruined castle dating from the 16th century which stands on a rocky promontory jutting out into Loch Assynt in Sutherland, Scotland.

I took this image at the end of a stormy afternoon just before sunset (yip, in Scotland the sun goes down at just after 4pm in the winter).

I used an ND filter to get the smooth silky water effect as there was quite a bit of movement in the water.  i liked how the rocks led you to the subject and the curve of the coast line takes you also around to the subject.  The clouds and sun setting gave a good colour effect, although at the same time it was still bitterly cold.
